What this policy covers
Mu Works LLC provides many hands to organizations that coordinate volunteers. This policy covers the many hands website, volunteer portal, and iOS and Android apps. Your organization controls the volunteer roster and operational records it enters. Mu Works processes that information to provide and secure the service.
Information we process
- Your name, email address, optional phone number, and organization memberships.
- Location approvals, availability, clearances, and other eligibility information your organization maintains.
- Shift openings, signups, waitlist status, attendance, and verified service-hour records.
- Password-verification records, multi-factor authentication settings, sessions, and security events.
- A notification delivery identifier and reminder preference. On Android, Google Firebase may create an app-installation identifier and delivery token when the app starts. many hands associates that token with your account only after you choose to enable shift reminders. On iOS, the app requests a delivery token after you enable notifications.
- Basic website and service diagnostics, such as pages viewed, app or browser platform, timestamps, request logs, error reports, and an IP address used to prevent abuse.
- Information you include when you contact support.
The volunteer app does not request access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, precise location, health data, or payment information. It does not include advertising or cross-app tracking.
How we use information
We use this information to authenticate you, show eligible openings, manage signups and waitlists, send requested shift reminders, keep accurate service records, prevent abuse, support users, and maintain the service. We do not sell personal information.
When information is shared
Your volunteer information is available to authorized people at the organization you serve. We also use service providers for hosting, database operations, email, optional text messages, error monitoring, website analytics, and Apple or Google push delivery. Those providers receive only the information needed to perform those services. We require them, through contracts or service terms, to protect personal information at least as carefully as this policy and applicable law require. We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect users, organizations, or the service.
How we protect information
We use encrypted network connections, password hashing, protected account access, limited administrative access, and security monitoring to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Notifications
Shift reminders are optional. Android's Firebase delivery service may create an app-installation identifier and notification token as part of app startup, but many hands does not associate or use that token for reminders until you enable them. On iOS, a notification token is requested after you enable reminders. Lock-screen copy is kept general and does not include your email, phone number, clearance details, or private notes. Turning reminders off in Profile removes the token associated with your many hands account. You can also change notification permission in your device settings.
Retention and account deletion
You can permanently delete your volunteer sign-in for the organization currently shown in Profile. After you confirm with your current password, many hands immediately removes your name, email, phone number, password, MFA settings, sessions, and registered device tokens from that self-service account. A separate account with another organization is not deleted.
Your organization may retain a generic roster record with role, location approval, and availability information, plus signup, attendance, and verified-hour records, for safety, reporting, grant, legal, or audit obligations. Those retained records no longer contain your many hands profile name, email, or phone number and appear under a generic deleted-volunteer label. Security audit records are designed not to include the deleted profile details. The organization determines how long its operational records must be kept under its documented policy and applicable law.
Read the complete steps on the account deletion page.
Children
The many hands volunteer app is for authorized volunteers and organization personnel. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through this app.
